TOOLS WE USE

Our
Process

We follow a simple four-step design thinking process that helps us create solutions that are simultaneously desired by people, technically feasible, financially viable, and sustainable over time. The approach is malleable, scalable, repeatable and challenge-agnostic, meaning we can use it to understand what’s out there, what’s missing and what to do about it—for pretty much anything. This is not an academic exercise, but a way to create offerings that people need now and into the future.

Phase 1
Discover

What could we do?

We gather the information we have, determine what we need to know, collect what’s missing and organize it so we can take action.

Activities

  • Project Framing

  • Primary & Secondary Research

  • Analysis & Synthesis

  • Storytelling

Phase 2
Define

process-2-y3.png

What should we do?

Armed with synthesized user research and design directives, we define ideas and systems to deliver what users need in ways that are viable, feasible and sustainable.

Activities

  • Concept Definition

  • Prototyping

  • Strategic Roadmapping

Phase 3
Design

process-3-y3.png

What are we going to do?

Based on the strategic roadmap and user feedback on concepts and prototypes, we refine the selected direction, system and fidelity, looking ahead to development and roll-out.

Activities

  • Concept Refinement

  • Prototype Refinement

  • Design Finalization

  • Development Preparation

Phase 4
Develop

How do we keep doing it?

With the design finalized, it’s time to bring it to life at scale. This could mean launching a new brand, going to the pilot plant or anything in between, but usually involves a lot of collaboration.

Activities

  • Partnering with Development Groups (internal or external)

  • Ongoing Support as Needed
